Using communications devices can have both the negative and positive implications. Communications devices in the modern day world amount to mobile phones, PDAs, internet and two way media, such as digital television. It is often in our minds, that internet is a big portal for any person to access and retrieve information. And as a result of that, the internet is place where types of information displayed vary, it is only a matter of conduct that stricts people from accessig anything they want to see. The communication media revolution has made accessing information via internet more easy. Wi-fi or LAN connections are available almost in any building, whether it is residence or office. The accessibility has become and issue to people in the developing countries, but the main issue that arises in the developed countries is that, as the industry of the communication media grows and expands, there is also a need to prevent inappropriate use of these communication devices. The control measure on the devices such as the mobile phone, is already implemented in Asia. The controlling techniques include blocking access to sites, viewing the type of material allowed, and surveillance of the material on the internet websites. Control of other communication devices is to put surveillance softwares and keep the record of what types of activities the user is doing, expecially in a company as a way to control the employees use of internet, IM, chats, mails. Ethical considerations are connected to privacy issues. When being observed silently, the user has no idea and whatever information the user shares with others will automatically decide what her/ his job position will be at. There was a case when a company employee, costantly complained to the colleague about how her boss is not worthy of anything. The company manage who had been previously maintaining the recording of the conversations in the mails and IMs, had her fired, due to offencive language towards the company's director. There should have been notice about the regulations of control. In the case above, the control metod was not secretive enough, or the manager has breached the anonymity he should have kept in order to solve the problem. The fired employee had filed a court case against the company, declaring that it was not in her knowledge that everyday her words being recorded and archived, therefore it shouldn't be used as an evidence against her, because she did not put consent for the to record it in the first place. The anonymity in the control always clashes with the methods of control. It is rather disturbing for users to know that they are being watched or controlled in a way, therefore as long as the consequences of the control are not viewable, the users are not notified of it.
