Writing Topic 3 (Emi): Digital Entertainment versus Live Entertainment
Writing Topic 10 (Emi): Public Information Systems, e.g. traffic control, security camera systems, public transfer information systems The Public information systems are IT devices and services that are used on a large public scale or local and individual scales. The benefits of the public information systems is that the information is readily available to the public, and in terms of the traffic control and public transfer information systems there are the advantages of providing security and order for the public.
The traffic control is operated on a digitalized computer soft wares that are automatically programmed. This is much easier than to have a traffic police on every crossroad. The digitized computers can be easy to locate the errors, as the trouble shooting is available. Also it has advantages of redirecting car routes on highways in order to decrease traffic load.
When an accident occurs, the cameras installed on the high ways and major cross roads, are used to identify the nature of the accidents. These cameras record and archive every image and every plate number of every passing car. Traffic control system can also process the images from the cameras to capture specific plate numbers and locate the suspect in speed over-limit. Law enforcement is made easier, with the cameras.
Traffice control systems are implemented in public subway and train transportations, that have computers as drivers, which means that the movement speed and time is controlled by the automated systems and regulated by humans.
Public transfer information systems have databases and archives that can quickly produce report sheets and have queries so the information that is requested is easily found and easily recorded. These information systems are used in transportation corporations, global or local, such as airports, banks. In order to work efficiently, the data should be integral, therefore there should not be repetition, or deletion of files. The main concern of these databases are they have to be regularly checked for system errors, and they are vulnerable to data loss and have to be protected against viruses and un-authorized attacks.
The public information systems organize our daily activities and record and archive every personal information. One thing that is disturbing for the users is the ability of the companies to potentially sell the private information and also use it for surveillance and against the user without his/ her permission. It has to be insured that the data from security systems cameras, traffic control cameras are confidential and not made public.
